Project..........

I just finished restoring this sweet drum set. Ludwig gold sparkle! Found it on craigslist for $125 so I bought it. Spent another $200 restoring it. Here's the list (if you care to know):
-All new tension rods for all of the drums (those screws on the rims)
-Two new maple bass drum hoops (old ones were horrible)
-All new bass drum claws (16 claws that hold the hoops)
-Manufactured two bass drum legs with rubber stoppers (they were missing). Those keep the bass drum from sliding away from you while you play.
-Two new bass drum heads (not cheap)
-Rubbed out all of the rust from the original hardware.

I just researched the serial numbers for this drum set. Looks like this kit is from 1965!!! Might be able to get some good dough if I sell it. Think I probably will.

Anyway wanted to share. This is a pretty sweet sounding drum set!

My Birthday Night.........

Here are a few shots from our last show on 11/14....my birthday night. It was a great show in Ybor City, a place just outside of Tampa to the east. It was an overall great night. The kids liked the show.

FYI: We're finishing up two more songs in the studio! So maybe we can release a sort of EP with 4 or 5 studio tracks by summer!

RIP Onyx.........

Onyx is TOTALED.

Just found out this afternoon. We're going to work out the deal on Monday & I have to give the rental back around Thursday or so. I'm not going to owe anything.

Oh, and I'm buying junker rims & tires to switch out on my Jeep so I can keep the nice ones.

Thinking about getting a VW GTI. Maybe another Jeep. Maybe an old El Camino or something. I can get a pretty sweet old one for about $2,000.

Suggestions?

Thanks for your well wishes. I'm fine. Onyx held up very well & I owe her thanks.

Poor Onyx.......

Onyx got hit by a Dodge Ram today. It happened in the middle of busy Dale Mabry Highway. Everyone is fine. I got out in the middle of traffic to shoot this before turning into the parking lot. She looks like this:

Cha Cha........

OK, I found this awesome 800 number. It's for a service company called "Cha-Cha".

1-800-224-2242

Go ahead and save that into your cell phone.

Basically, you can ask them ANYTHING. They will text the answer back to you very quickly. It's SO MUCH FUN! We were asking them completely random things like, "Who's house?"....they replied with "Run's House!".

I asked them "So what makes you cool?". They replied with "confidence".

You can even reply over and over with them.

I asked "So what makes Cameron Frye's house like a museum?" (from Ferris Bueler's Day Off). They replied with "It's very cold, very nice and you're not allowed to touch anything." That was exactly what I was looking for.

Of course you can ask serious questions, but I think it's a lot of fun just to mess around with them.

Plenty of fun. Try it & report back to me.

My CD Collection........

I just looked on my itunes & it said that I have 9.5 days of music loaded onto the program. After a few quick figures (counted the albums on itunes vs the others that I just have only on CD) I figure that I have roughly 60 DAYS of music in my posession.

So, if you need some music, hit me up dawg.

2nd Song of the Day.........

My Morning Jacket with the Boston Pops on Letterman.

There is another SOTD below with My Morning Jacket. You can get a good impression of them from this song, but the next is completely funky & new for them. Hope you watch them both.

Song of the Day...........

My Morning Jacket - "Highly Suspicious"

This band is from Louisville & now a huge national act. Most of their stuff is acoustic & lately, they've been branching out into more alternative rock or R&B sound. Very eclectic band.

Uh...........

So I was drinking a glass of water right here at my computer when I noticed that my glass was DEFINITELY smiling back at me. Every way I would turn it, there was a smiley face. "Hi little guy!"
Tried to wipe the drops (eyes) off of the under side & they re-appeared as little water stains. I think I see a nose. There is even a little arc of lettering exactly where the light smile is. Whoa!
PS: I'm sober

Song Of The Day........

Things are OK here in Tampa. Hot.

Faye ended up going right around us...as if we were some sort of croquet post. It was pretty weird because all of our surrounding counties were drenched & we didn't get ANY rain. I mean, it rains hard for a few minutes every day in the summer. No rain those few days for Tampa & St. Pete. Funny.

Oh, there's a new one creeping up around Cuba right now. It looks pretty big. I think it's Gustav or something. Hey, does anyone have any guesses for the next named storm? H will be a fun one. I know it's published, so don't look ahead. I haven't. I'll say "Huey".

Band is doing fine. We just finished a new song & unleashed it to feed last week at two live shows. Good reviews. Actually, we're playing an open mic night at one of our regular venues tonight. We do this instead of one of our practices every week now.

Bert's getting married to his girl, Amy next month. September 20th. I'll be in town for that weekend. Maybe I'll see all of you!

The song of the day is something that you've heard before. Most of the time I usually post more hidden talent, but today I want to draw attention to a particular 80's song for a few reasons:

1. Mullet.
2. It has one of those endings like "Layla". 2:50. It can keep repeating itself & I'm OK with that.
3. There are plenty of Ghostbusters 1 references without the movie cast.
4. Sweet keyboard feature at 1:37. Glamor shot at 1:44.
5. It's just an exceptional song if you really pay attention.

Mad TV

Still playing a lot of shows lately. Check out our myspace page. It has every show, youtube clip & many band photos as well.

All else is fine.

I finally found my favorite MAD TV sketch on youtube. I was searching for Michael McDonald's character called "Fightin' Ron". There are a few different FR sketches, but this one is by far my favorite. The girl played by Mo Collins really makes this sketch awesome. I've seriously watched this at least ten times lately.....

Michael McDonald also plays a couple of other characters that are priceless. Here's "Stuart"....

And here's Mo Collins again as "Lorraine". Uhhhhh.....

Finally, here's Keegan-Michael Key as "Coach Hines"....

I know it's a lot to watch. I actually want to be one of these characters for Halloween. Which one? Ron, Stuart, Lorraine or Coach Hines?

The Crab Spider.......

So I was telling S-Hooks about this spider that I almost ran into in my back yard. It was just about at eye-level, and I almost walked right into it. It would have landed on my nose, but I noticed the huge web right before I walked into it.

It's called a crab spider. This one was yellow with red spikes....yes spikes. Apparently, they have a painful bite. Not sure if they are deadly, but they do have venom. Couldn't get the focus to work. I was actually about two inches from him when I was shooting! Maybe it could have jumped on me! Shute, I don't know.

Here's what they really look like! "Muaaahahaha!"

And this!
